Bizman accused of stealing motorcycles
The police yesterday arraigned a year-old businessman before an Abuja Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing several motorcycles and attempted to sell them to one Nasiru Mejigari who is now at large.
Suraju Haruna was said to nave criminally conspired with one Awolu Ali now at large to steal several motorcycles, offences punishable under Sections 288 and 79 of the Penal Code.
The Prosecutor, Emmanuel Hoseni, informed the court that after stealing the motorcycles, the accused prepared an invoice that will act as receipts for the purpose of selling them to one Nasiru Mejigari who is now at large.
He said during the police investigations, the accused person confessed to the crime and that he usually used one Toyota cricket to perform his operations.
When the charges were read to him, he pleaded not guilty and requested for bail while the prosecutor asked for date for hearing to enable the police proof its case before the court.
Magistrate Hauwa Aliyu granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sums.
The Magistrate also ruled that one of the sureties must be a civil servant of Grade Level 08 and that the two must reside within the courts’ jurisdiction and swears to affidavits promising to produce the accused on the adjourned date.
