Laborer appeared before a court for damaging another’s windscreen.
A 29-year-old laborer last Wednesday appeared before an Abuja Magistrate court for allegedly damaging the windscreen of a car belonging to one Dada Amadipwe of Bessa, Airport road, Abuja.
Chidi Akemba of Gosa village, Airport road, Abuja, was said to have committed the crime on October 5 following a fight between him and the complainant.
Police prosecutor, Paul Anigbo, a constable, informed the court that one Dada Amadipwe reported at the Lugbe police station that the accused intentionally damaged his car windscreen
“After the fight, the complainant wanted to drive away his car of the fight, rushed to the car and damaged the windscreen, valued at N7, 000” the prosecutor said.
The prosecutor said the accused confessed to have committed the offence during investigation.
When the charge was read to him, he denied it and applied for bail, a request that was granted by Magistrate Omolola Oladipo in the sum of N20, 000 with a responsible surety in like sum.
She also ruled that the surety must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court and swear to an affidavit to produce the accused in court on the adjourned date.
The case was adjourned to October 18 for hearing.
