AMAC to Arrest Fake Revenue Collectors
The Abuja Municipal Area Council has said it would set up a task force arrest fake revenue collectors in the city.
The chairman, Legislative Committee on Markets and Revenue Generation, Bala Iya, who disclosed this to newsmen, said the arrest became necessary due to the manner in which people impersonate AMAC staff to sell stickers and emblems to motorists.
He said AMAC frowned at the rate of tax evasion by commercial motorists in the council and would no longer allow unscrupulous elements to deprive the council of its revenue which he said is used to provide social amenities for the residents.
He advised commercial motorists to stop patronizing touts and come to either AMAC Revenue Office or AMAC Trade and Investment Company for vehicle stickers and emblems, saying they are the only approved bodies ordered to collect revenue on behalf of the council.
