TWO persons died while property worth millions of naira were destroyed in 44 fire incidents in Kebbi State between January and April this year. Addressing newsmen in Birnin-Kebbi, the Deputy Director, Fire Services of the states Ministry of Works, Alhaji Yahaya Garba Zazzagawa said four local government areas of Jega, Aliero, Birnin-Kebbi and Koko-Bessehadthe highest number of fire incidents.
He said fire also destroyed 13 houses and burnt to ashes, N800,000 in Wadata Garba village in Barbarejo District of Suru Local Government Area of the state.
Our correspondent reports that following the incident, wife of the Kebbi governor Haiiya Asmau Saidu Dalingari visited the area and donated relief materials worth over N2 Million to the victims. She also called on the people to be careful while handling fire.
