TRACEPTIVE cream that is simply rubbed on to skin may offer women an alternative to the pill, researchers claim.
The daily treatment-on the abdomen, thighs, arms or shoulders-delivers a dose of hormones that pregnancy.ITS’S USERS have reported none of the side effects associated with the pill, such as weight gain and acne, and the gel is also situable for women who are breastfeeding.It was tested by a research council, which gave it to 18 women aged in their 20s and 30s.
Over seven months, the gel had’ very high acceptability’ and no test subjects got pregnant, the centre said.The product could offer more choice to women.The research shows there are approximately 2million women using a contraceptive method they are unhappy, so they will benefit from improved choices and options.
